EMBRACING EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
In March 2023, Berjaya announced several changes to its boardroom with the establishment of its all-female board membership. This landmark decision represents a significant step forward in promoting gender equality and inclusivity in the corporate world while reshaping traditional perceptions of leadership.
SUSTAINABILITY KPI
In January 2024, Berjaya implemented Sustainability KPIs for all
subsidiaries and employees to create a culture of sustainability in the
workplace. This initiative aims to align employees with our ESG goals
and ensure that our activities are measurable to drive ESG impact.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Berjaya’s health and safety policy applies to all contractors and other
stakeholders on its premises. The management aims to enhance its
health and safety impact through continuous improvement and
compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (“OSHA”) 1994,
FMA 1967, EQA 1974 and other applicable acts, legislations, orders,
rules, codes of practices and other requirements stipulated by
Department of Safety and Health (“DOSH”).
HUMAN RIGHTS
In May 2024, Berjaya introduced two policies to demonstrate its
strong commitment to respecting human rights and adhering to local
laws, as well as the universally recognised principles of human rights
established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (“UDHR”)
and the International Labour Organisation (“ILO”) Declaration on
Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

INITIATIVES: OUR TOP 3 CSR INITIATIVES
Our subsidiary, STM Lottery Sdn. Bhd. hosted their Chinese New
Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign distributing red money packets,
mini hampers, and mandarin oranges to over 18,000 elderly citizens
annually across Malaysia. This initiative is part of their tradition of
giving back to the community and has benefited more than 500,000
elderly individuals since its launch in 1988.

employment opportunities for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
community. In 2016, they opened the world’s first Starbucks Signing
Store, fostering a welcoming environment for deaf baristas to thrive.
Across three Signing Stores in Malaysia, Starbucks employs nineteen deaf employees. The programme empowers them to develop their skills and confidence, with fourteen of them becoming certified Coffee Masters and remaining four taking on leadership roles as Shift Supervisors. This initiative fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-reliance for these individuals.
