Berjaya EnviroParks Sdn Bhd manages and operates the sanitary landfill at Bukit Tagar
EnviroParks ("BTEP") under a long-term concession awarded by the Government and supervised by
the Ministry of Housing & Local Government. With an airspace capacity of 120 million tons, this
premier engineered sanitary landfill provides sufficient capacity to dispose of solid wastes
generated from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya in excess of 50 years. The state-of-the-art
Leachate Treatment Plant with a treatment capacity of 2,200 cu.m per day is one of the largest
in ASEAN. It is the first sanitary landfill in Malaysia to have Carbon Credits units
successfully issued by the UNFCCC.
BTEP has achieved various recognitions by local and overseas professional bodies, attaining the
Gold Award of Special Merit for Environmental Engineering by the Association of Consulting
Engineers Malaysia, the Engineering Excellence Award by the IEM, and the ASEAN Outstanding
Engineering Achievement Project Award 2008 by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization.
BTEP was awarded the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards 2013 in the Regional category
and the CDL Outstanding Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards 2013 on 22 August 2013. In
2016, BTEP was awarded the "ASEAN Best Practices for Renewable Energy Projects Award (On-Grid
National Grid Category)" by the ASEAN Centre of Energy for its 6MW installation.
BTEP is currently generating 10MW and will further increase its Renewable Energy agenda to 12MW
by 2022 which will make this one of the largest installations of its kind in ASEAN.
Amita Berjaya Sdn Bhd is licensed by the Department of Environment Malaysia to receive and manage industrial toxic and hazardous wastes (Scheduled Waste). Adopting the cradle-to-cradle principle, Amita Berjaya’s proprietary green and sustainable technology enables Scheduled Waste to be 100% recycled without any residue by turning Scheduled Waste into Alternative Raw Material and Alternative Fuel as substitutes for mined natural raw material and fossil fuel in cement-making.
AWF Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, runs three potable water treatment and supply plants in Boluo County Longxi Town, Guangdong Province, China under three wholly-owned subsidiaries, Boluo Longxi Water Supply Co. Ltd., Boluo Longxi Zhiwang Water Supply Co. Ltd., and Boluo Longxi Pengfa Water Supply Co. Ltd. The water treatment plants were acquired by AWF in 2014 and commenced operations on 1 October 2014 with a total production capacity of 100 million litres per day of treated potable water.
