The history of Berjaya Corporation dates back to 1984 when the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun acquired a major controlling stake in the share capital of Berjaya Kawat Berhad from the founders, Broken Hill Proprietary Ltd, Australia and National Iron & Steel Mills, Singapore. The shareholding change also resulted in a major change in the directorate, direction and dynamic growth of Berjaya Corporation.
Today, Berjaya Corporation is a major Malaysian conglomerate with an annual revenue in excess of RM3.02 billion. Through a series of acquisitions, organic growth and the entrepreneurial leadership of Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan, Berjaya Corporation today has a total employee strength of over 16,000, and is engaged in the following core activities:
Berjaya Corporation Berhad assumed the listing status of Berjaya Group Berhad on the main board of Bursa Securities upon the completion of the Group restructuring exercise, which has been effected in October 2005. |
