Spreading Festive Cheer at Rumah Bakti Ci Hang

Aiming to spread some joy to the elders especially during the Chinese New Year festive season, a group of Berjaya staff led by Dato’ Robin Tan, Executive Director of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, visited 35 senior citizens of Rumah Bakti Ci Hang, Kg. Baru Subang on 16 January 2009. The visit held in conjunction with the Lunar New Year, saw the group mingling with the elders who had a good time enjoying their Kenny Rogers ROASTERS’ lunch, which many of them described as their first western meal. The team was also given a tour of the home which has four blocks and one small hall.

Rumah Bakti Ci Hang serves as a shelter home for old folks above 65 years of age with no living relatives. The oldest resident there is a 99 year-old woman. The home also has a physiotherapy and stroke rehabilitation centre opened to the public without any charges. The centre has proven to be beneficial as it has successfully rehabilitated many stroke victims since it first opened its doors in 2003.

Berjaya donated RM20,000 and some needy items such as biscuits, Milo, sugar and cooking oil to the home. Dato’ Robin Tan and Datin Hsien also presented ang pows to the elders and the Home care givers.
