Berjaya Group of Companies donate RM2.5 million to Tsunami victims

The Berjaya Group of Companies, comprising Sports Toto Malaysia, Berjaya Starbucks Coffee, Berjaya Vacation Club, Cosway Malaysia, MiTV Corporation, Convenience Shopping (7-Eleven), Berjaya General Insurance, Berjaya Times Square and Kenny Rogers Roasters donated a total of RM1.3 million to the various funds set up for victims of the Tsunami disaster. An amount of RM250,000 each was donated to the New Straits Times Malaysian Tsunami Disaster Fund and the Star Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. The balance of Rm500,000 was donated to The Sun newspaper's "The Sun Emergency Supplies Fund". The Chairman of Berjaya Group, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan made a personal donation of RM300,000 equally distributed to the three relief funds mentioned above.

Meanwhile, employees of various Berjaya companies including agents, stockists and suppliers nationwide answered the call made by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan and put their hands together to raise more money for the Sun Tsunami victims at their respective companies and departments.

Sports Toto's agents contributed RM607,450 and Cosway Malaysia's staff, stockists, members and suppliers collected RM280,000 for the Tsunami Fund.

Berjaya Air did its part by volunteering to deliver basic necessities such as food & medical supplies to Banda Aceh and Sri Lanka.

MiTV & Berjaya Group employees further contributed another RM100,000 to the Sun's Tsunami Fund.
