As part of the Group’s corporate responsibilities activities for the year, staff of Berjaya Corporation Berhad led by Dato’ Robin Tan, Executive Director of Berjaya Corporation Berhad visited Harvest Centre (“HC”) in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur on 27 October 2009. At the centre, the group toured the classes and the Epoch Youth Centre where they had the opportunity to meet the bright students and the teachers. The group also had a chance to taste the appetizing lunch prepared by the students at the youth centre.
HC is a non-profit company which focuses on providing educational programmes for urban underprivileged children around Kuala Lumpur. The centre also provides training for youth and volunteers. HC currently caters to 470 students.
Berjaya Cares Foundation contributed RM20,000 to the centre while Berjaya Books also donated some book. During their visit, the group handed over contributions donated by Berjaya staff. Among the items contributed were grocery items and stationeries. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts also spread some cheer to the children at the classes with its delicious doughnuts and balloons.
