| Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation Berhad operates Borders Bookstores in Malaysia through a franchise arrangement with Borders International Services Inc., a subsidiary of Borders Group Inc. Borders is a leading global retailer of books, music and movies operating more than 1,200 Borders’ and Waldenbooks’ stores around the world. The first Borders bookstore in Malaysia was officially opened to the public on 19 April 2005 at Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur. Borders’ bookstore in Berjaya Times Square is not only the largest bookstore in Malaysia, it is also the largest Borders bookstore in the world occupying 60,000 square feet and carries a selection of over 200,000 titles, predominantly in English with a good mix of Chinese and Malay titles and a vast selection of music and movie titles. The second Borders bookstore was opened at the Curve, Mutiara Damansara on 1 December 2005. The 25,000 sq. ft. store also carries a selection of over 200,000 books, music and movie titles. Borders Malaysia is positioned as a one-stop destination where book lovers and shoppers can explore, discover and enjoy a broad selection of books, music and movies in a comfortable and cozy environment. Borders Malaysia aims to be a quality bookstores chain in the country and plans to take the book industry to greater heights.
