TMC Life Sciences Bhd, which derives about 80 percent of its revenue from fertility business, expects new businesses of wellness, stem cell banking and integrated hospital to contribute significantly to its revenue in 2009 and onwards.

"With the new income streams coming on, we expect our revenue to shoot up substantially in 2009 and onwards," its managing director, Dr Colin Lee Soon Soo, told reporters after the company's annual general meeting and extraordinary general meeting here Monday.

He said the company would have four revenue streams instead of just one before.

However, he declined to provide a figure.

The company made a revenue of RM31.3 million in financial year ended Dec 31, 2007, a 25.6 percent jumped from RM24.9 million in the year before while its pre-tax profit improved to RM13.0 million in 2007 from RM12.6 million previously.

TMC Life will open its new hospital, Tropicana Medical Centre, in Kota Damansara in the third quarter of this year, which will focus on providing not only fertility, women and childrens healthcare services, but also other medical specialist disciplines.

The company had also embarked on a wellness programme in August 2007 to encourage the general public to be proactive in managing their health.

It had also established a stem cell arm under StemTech International Sdn Bhd in September 2007, to provide a premier stem cell banking in Malaysia as well as facilitating stem cell theraphy in Tropicana Medical Centre in the future.

Shareholders had also approved the proposed acquisition of Penang-based Srigim Medical Centre Sdn Bhd to cater to the demand in northern Peninsular Malaysia, simultaneously expanding the companys network to six branches nationwide currently.

Dr Lee said that he believed the three new divisions would grow faster in line with the continued growth in the fertility business.

Moving forward, he said, TMC Life was also looking to expand regionally by setting up more cord blood centres.

The company also aimed to broaden its foreign patient base through health tourism.

Foreign patient currently contributed 20 percent to its revenue.
