GPS to push its V-Guard system

GPS Tech Solutions Sdn Bhd expects the launch of its smart recovery programme in collaboration with major insurance, automotive, technology, motoring association and security companies to boost the market share of its automated vehicle locating system, V-Guard. 

Chief executive officer Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping said the company was probably among the first Malaysian companies to locally produce automotive vehicle tracking solutions. 

“Our main strength is in the commercial vehicle segment, followed by high-end passenger vehicles,” he told StarBiz .

GPS is finalising plans for a listing on the Mesdaq market next year.  

Tan said V-Guard's competitive edge was its Global Positioning System (GPS). 

“GPS relies on the satellite system, which offers precision and real-time tracking accuracy. 

“The product is researched and developed in Malaysia. That is why we are able to price the V-Guard more competitively than imported automated vehicle tracking system product of similar range, using radio frequency,” he said. 

V-Guard is currently exported to countries such as Thailand, Kuwait, Dubai, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. 

“The exports generate about 20% of the company's revenue. We will continue working on expanding overseas,” he said. 

Tan said that under the smart recovery programme, the insurance, automotive, and security companies would act as sales channels for the company as well as help to promote V-Guard. 

The parties involved include MCM Technologies Bhd, Berjaya General Insurance, Kurnia Insurans Bhd, Mayban Assurance Bhd, Mayban Takaful Bhd, Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd, Naza Wheels Sdn Bhd, Nasim Sdn Bhd, Lowe Motors Sdn Bhd, Securiforce Sdn Bhd and Automobile Association of Malaysia.
